Solution

Meetings were held with Support and Virtual Tape Product Engineering management and the decision was made to stop any further efforts on fixing CAM.  This is due to the following reasons:

1) Although there is a CAM SHA-2 fix, it is only applicable for standalone JBODs. It was discovered that this fix on VLE/VSM6-7 system resulted in new issues in sending the correct telemetry to the ASR backend. Thus, this CAM SHA-2 fix was not released for VLE/VSM6-7 customers.
2) CAM is EOSL'd and there are no Engineering resources to get a fix for Virtual Tape systems.
3) Working issue is pulling away resources that need to be directed to developing the future Virtual Tape ASR interface using the SDP2-API (target TBD).

Continued use of CAM direct ASR may result in unexpected results and is not recommended. See below for Virtual Tape systems solution.

Short term fix/workaround -- work with local Oracle Account Team and the VLE/VSM6-7 CAM Customers experiencing ASR no heartbeat issues to move to SDP2 2.3.2.
Although this workaround still uses CAM to send alerts, the alerts will be redirected to SDP2 and SDP2 is SHA-2 compliant and does not have the same certificate issue CAM direct connect systems have.

Long term solution - the long term plan is to implement the SDP2-API for ASR. This will remove all dependencies with CAM, as CAM is being decommissioned.  Please contact Virtual Tape HW Support team for more information and status of future VLE/VSM releases.  No target date for release at this time.
