This problem originated on Friday when the Library was inactive (stops responding when backup softare). The operation was resumed performing a full Cycle Power of the Library, but the reference unit failed again.

This same unit has already failed several times always follow the same pattern of symptoms. The recycle puts other functional and then fails again. This has already happened several times, and with different tape cartridges of different backup jobs that work seamlessly with the remaining units. Everything indicates that there are problems of tape cartridges but the drive, although it remains temporarily in operation.

Symptoms

LTO4 drive in robot position 0,1,1,9, SL500 fails with the digit "6" on the front display LEDs.

Cause

Error 6: Tape drive or media error. Tape drive determined that an error occurred, but it cannot isolate the error due to faulty hardware or to the tape cartridge.

Solution

Drive is defective and requires replacement.
