Symptoms

The device property, pcie-ari-supported, is not properly created.
This can cause an OS panic if the ethernet virtual function is enabled.

Example of panic message:

panic[cpu0]/thread=2a10009bb80: Fatal error has occurred in: PCIe fabric.(0x1)(0x43)

Changes

Cause

This problem is caused by an XSCF firmware bug introduced in XCP2280.

This problem will happen when all of the following conditions are met:

  1. The XCP version is 2280 or later
  2. A system (or PPAR) is configured with the factory-default logical domain configuration.
  3. The ethernet virtual function is enabled by executing the ldm create-vf command or the dladm create-vnic command.

Solution

This bug is fixed in XCP2320.

Please apply the fixed XCP firmware.

There are two workarounds:

  1. Use XCP version 2271 or earlier.
    Or,
  2. Save a new domain configuration (do not use the factory-default configuration).
    Sample steps are as follows:
    1. Boot the system.
    2. Save the current configuration with your preferred name (You do not have to modify the configuration).
      Ex: # /usr/sbin/ldm add-spconfig <your-preferred-name>
    3. Shutdown and then boot the system

If system panic repeats, please apply the fixed XCP firmware after stopping the system (or PPAR) by the poweroff XSCF command
