Symptoms

 Tape drive power issues

Cause

 Tape drive power issues.

Solution

 Tape drive power issues can fall into several categories:

1. Tape Drive will not power up.

This is most likely a hardware problem with the drive, Drive tray component, library power components.

2. Tape drive powers up but fails during bring-up.

The tape drive will produce a check code on the display. Record the check code. Take note of the leds that are lit at the back of the drive tray. See Document ID 2126486.1 for details regarding how to display the check code using the library.

3. Tape drive power cycles.

This is most likely a hardware problem with the drive, Drive tray component, library power components.

4. Cannot power off a tape drive using normal methods.

Reset the tape drive using the process outline in Doc ID 1465811.1.
