Symptoms

1. ASR reports no heart beat. The report looks like:

Component Asset Details for <*****>
Warning message about Asset.
Heartbeat failed. Last heartbeat received on <x> days ago (Aug 6, 2016 6:34 AM).
Serial Number <*****>
Support Identifier
<*****> (Company Name)

Product Name Oracle Big Data Appliance X6-2 Starter Rack

2. After rerunning the ASR heartbeat command the ASR status for the cluster still shows no heartbeat.

Everything else looks correct:

1. The ASR Manager process is running.

The output from:

/opt/asrmanager/util/check_asr_status.sh Checking ASR Manager status

Reports: "PASS: ASR Manager process is running."

2. The ASR manager is registered with Oracle.

The output from:

/opt/asrmanagr/bin/asr test_connection

Reports: "test_transport completed successfully."

3. ASR Manager is registered with the Oracle ASR Infrastructure.

The output from

/opt/asrmanager/bin/asr show_reg_status

Reports "ASR Manager is registered with Oracle ASR Infrastructure."

Cause

The cause is not known.

Solution

Try deactivating the device on the support web site and then reactivating it.

After that the device should be flagged as an Active device and it should start heartbeating.
