False UAM 0437 System SCCP TPS capacity exceeded when database split feature is turned on

When the traffic is below the system SCCP capacity, the alarm is reported in rept-stat-trbl, and rept-stat-sccp:mode=perf:data=

This is incorrect behavior.

Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 46.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

EAGLE generates UAM 0437 (System SCCP TPS capacity exceeded alarm) for SCCP DN or IMSI subsystem even when the current TPS usage for the subsystem is below the available SCCP TPS capacity for that subsystem.

“TOTAL MSU RATE” printed by Rept-stat-sccp:data=<subsystem type – DN /IMSI> shows the current TPS usage and “System Total SCCP Capacity” shows the available SCCP TPS capacity for the subsystem

Cause

It is a false alarm, as there are any service denials or message discards in MFC stats. and the "AVERAGE MSU USAGE" or "TOTAL MSU RATE" rate are below the configured maximum TPS

This is related with known issue described in BUG 22987727 - R46.3_ST:Incorrect SCCP status displayed in rept-stat-sccp:data=elap:mode=perf that will be fixed in R6.5

Service denied for all the cards showing zero means none of the services are denied by any card . and if you see the total statistics of the PDU , you can see none of the PDU is discarded during the transaction .

hence these are not a service impacting issue and this is only a false alarm .

Solution

Upgrade the STPs to R46.4 when available

Verify periodically the TPS usage vs the configured maximum TPS

"AVERAGE MSU USAGE" or "TOTAL MSU RATE" rate can be used to determine actual MSU usage.

rept-stat-sccp:mode=perf

SCCP MFC stats can be used to make sure that there are no service denials or message discards.

rept-stat-mfc:mode=stats:service=scpdn:sample=tot24h
rept-stat-mfc:mode=stats:service=vsccp:sample=tot24h
rept-stat-mfc:mode=stats:service=scpimsi:sample=tot24h
