With the Solaris OS firmware-check tool it reminds the operator during solaris start up that
the Platform System Firmware needs to be updated to obtain the latest bug and security fixes.

Cause

A tool was introduced in Solaris 11.3.10.5.0 (above) to checks if the oracle hardware has the recommended revision of the ILOM and System Firmware.

The tool runs at Solaris  start-up and verifies that the version of ILOM or System firmware is at recommended level.

This message may appear after a firmware update and does not mean that there is any hardware issue with the platform.

PSARC/2016/206 Oracle sysfw/ILOM firmware check

Bug 22977575 - Creation of ILOM/Sysfw version validation tool
Bug 22977349 - Add system/management/firmware-check to Solaris Installation Group by default

Bug 24348966 has been submitted to remove this feature, this has currently been incorporated in unreleased version of Solaris 11.3 SRU 11

Solution

Apply the latest Platform System Firmware

For customers who cannot apply the latest firmware due to site constraints, as an interim solution, they can ignore the message until they are able to comply with this requirement.
