install_smu --check fails with ERROR: rpool is at 0 percent used capacity because a new check in the April 2016 QFSDP (which makes the assumption that all root zpools are called 'rpool') is failing.

Created from <SR 3-13053123401>

Applies to:

SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 - Version -Not Applicable- and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SMU pre install check failed .

Changes

 none

Cause

A new check in the April 2016 QFSDP (which makes the assumption that all root zpools are called 'rpool') is failing.

Since the root zpool is *not* named  rpool, this new check in the April 2016 QFSDP (which makes the assumption that all root zpools are called 'rpool') is failing.

Solution

1. Since the root zpool is named something other than rpool, this new check in the April 2016 QFSDP (which makes the assumption that all root zpools are called 'rpool') is failing. Prior versions of the script correctly interpreted the root zpool name. The permanent fix(Jul 2016 QFSDP) will be to allow and check for root zpools called differently than rpool.

2. As a temporary workaround, the DEV has provided a version of the script which disables the check in question. Please download attachement install_smu.24326377.gz in this note
