Changes

Installed OVM 3.3.3 on the server.

Cause

Configuration and documentation errata.  Missing required Patch - <Patch 22546910>.  Additionally, there is a documentation bug in the Install Guide.  Unlike other Exalytics X series servers, X5-4 servers use nvme flash cards.  The ddcli command is not the correct command to use to check the nvme flash configuration.  Instead of 'ddcli' command, it should be 'nvmeadm list' on an X5-4 server.

Solution

Apply <Patch 22546910> and complete the steps in the Patch readme.
Then run the "nvmeadm list" command to verify the flash (in lieu of ddcli command).

For example:

# nvmeadm list
SUNW-NVME-1
SUNW-NVME-2
SUNW-NVME-3

NOTE: With an X5-4 server, there are typically 3 cards installed, so you should see 3 devices listed.

The error in the Installation Guide will be corrected in the Release 2.1 Installation Guide. This has been verified internally via the documentation review team.
