Applies to:

Oracle Communications Policy Management - Version POLICY 11.5.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The size of the 'server backup' has changed significantly since the upgrade to release 11.5.2

Cause

The server backup process has been changed in the newer release to be more efficient.

Solution

 This is NOT a bug.
TPD has changed the backup folders, which caused the difference between 10.5.6 and 11.5.2 release.

A check of the source code shows that server backup work is actually done by comcol script invoked by platform code. Comparison of both platform and comcol code, shows that there was nearly no code change made between 10.5 and 11.5.2 releases.

From a test run on 10.5 release in our lab, after comparing the server backup log between 10.5 and 11.5.2, the following folders were excluded when doing server backup in 11.5.2 release.
/var/log
/var/TKLC/log
/var/TKLC/pkg

This is the reason why backup iso on 11.5.2 is far less than that on 10.5.6:
This change was made by TPD. At lease 11.5.2 and later releases were affected by this change.
----------------------------
=== in short, changes were made and some directories are no longer included in the backup. it should be smaller.
