First installation , library with FW 2.50, this library came with 8 drives to install IBM LTO 7, but we know that this version of the library is incompatible with the version of drives.
FSE can not perform FW upgrade because the drives are not recognized by version 2.50.
Can we perform the FW upgrade to 2.60 without these drives?

Cause

LTO7 drives are not recognized in library with 2.50 code as the drives are not supported until 2.60 firmware.

Solution

Can the SL150 be upgraded from 2.50 to 2.60 with LTO7 drive as bridge drive?

No... Australia ran into this because they had a new library with LTO7 drives and the robot failed and was replaced and it had 2.50 code on it and so it would not boot up with the LTO7 drive in it. You can not load the code because the firmware tab is grayed out in the Web GUI. A loaner LTO6 or LTO5 drive is required so the library can boot up and then upgraded to 2.60. Once this is done, the LTO7 drives can be put back into the library.
