Symptoms

Truncated error messages in SL8500 error message when viewed within SPLAT or in SLC

Cause

Library is on FRS_8.51 but has error message cut off at the end within SPLAT or SLC for following error message

Solution

This is actually working as designed. The original problem that was occurring with the event logs is that they were being truncated and running into the next event. To correct that problem, we limited the length of the event text to 1020 characters so that we do not have the trace entries concatenate, which was causing the problem. Please remember that the length of the entry also includes the date, time, device, etc.

In the rewindUnload failure or with a fetchComplete response, there is more than 1020 characters of data sent by the drive controller to the library controller for STA.

No further action required, works as designed.
