StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This SL150 is expiring cleaning tapes after only one use.
We put 3 new (complete new Oracle Universal Clean Tapes) in the SL150 and after only one usage of the clean tape it appears as "Expired".

Cause

This is a firmware issue.

Solution

Upgrade to Firmware 2.60 or above.

Then do the following

(1) Eject the affected cleaning tapes out of the library.
(2) Manually enter the cleaning tapes back into the library from the Web BUI and move them from the CAP/Mail slot slots to any open storage slot in the library and NOT into the reserved slots. That way the library should clear any database entries it will have for those cleaning tapes.
(3) Check the properties of the cleaning tapes in the BUI.  The number of remaining cleans should be correct.
(4) Move the cleaning tapes from those storage slots manually from the Web BUI into the reserved slots.
