Applies to:

Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version 6.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Oracle Flash Storage (FS1-2) fails sending emails and reports the following alert:

Alert: Sending Mail Failed
An error occurred attempting to send email to the SMTP server.

Cause

The FS1-2 sends the emails through the SMTP port 25, refer to the <Document 2020039.1> FS System: Open Ports Required on the Pilot.

However, the FS1-2 has two Pilots with their own IP addresses and it also has a public address. It is necessary for your firewall to accept the connections through this port 25 from not only the FS1-2 public IP address but also from both Pilot IP addresses, otherwise the connections will fail and the FS1-2 will report this alert.

Solution

Make sure that your firewall accepts the connections for the port 25 from all three IP addresses (Pilot 1, Pilot 2 and FS1-2 public address) assigned to your FS1-2.
