Cause

If the customer has confirmed that the configured network cabling is good and there are no other network connectivity issues, then it is possible that we are hitting a known bug.

BUG 18337892 - bogus alerts about ports which are not cabled up

Currently, this bug is still being investigated.

Solution

Try the following from the BUI - Maintenance -> Logs -> Alerts

When the customer sees the port up/down alert, verify if any of the network cables have been recently plugged in and/or removed.

If not, then it is an indication that Bug 18337892 may be involved.
