Symptoms

=== Issue Clarification===

--What--
Product:
Oracle Communications Policy Management

Version:
POLICY 11.5.2.1

Behavior:
After upgrade from 10.5.6 to 11.5.2.1 it was noticed that all Policies handling Passes were not working anymore, It just look like the user has no passes when they started a session. So what we found is that a new option appear on the Passes configuration page (Policy Server -> Quota Profiles -> Passes) and it says Quota Profile Type, and it has two options available: Subscriber or Pool. But the problem is that after the upgrade the Pool option is selected by default, so we figure out that was the reason they didn't work, we changed a couple of them to Subscriber type and they worked again.

Error:
Passes after the upgrade are assigned as Pool instead of Subscriber in the Quota profile type.

Expected Behavior:
Passes after the upgrade to 11.5.2.1 should be assigned as Subscriber in the Quota profile type as the quota profile type "Pool" was not there in 10.5.x

--How--
System Name:
CMP9

Steps:
1. Before upgrading from 10.5.x to 11.5.1.2.0, Create one pass and there is no "Quota Profile type" for pass in 10.5.x and verify that pass is granted quota.
2. Upgrade to 11.5.1.2.0 and check quota profile->Passes--> Pass1(for example) ->quota profile type. It will show quota profile type as pool

--When--
First observed a failure?
After upgrade to 11.5.2.1

--Where--
Environment:
Lab

Platform:
MPE

--Business Impact--
All subscribers having configured passes in release 10.5.x are effected.

Cause

Before 11.5 there was no Pool concept for Passes and there was no 'quota profile type' field in GUI for PASS but there was always a field named quotatype in MySQL "quota" table which was always SET as 1. So user used to create a PASS and nothing used to showing up into the GUI , everything was good.

Now the problem is we set quotatype =1 for pool and quotatype =0 for subscriber in 11.5 (We introduced pool on 11.5). Also we are showing up "quota profile type" into the GUI-> quota Profile -PASS. As the quotatype filed was already set up as 1 from 10.5 so after upgrade to 11.5 , it's still set as 1 into the database table but by now in (11.5) "quotatype" 1 became pool so now it's showing pool in GUI-> quota Profile -PASS

This is explained in the following bug:
Bug 22460556

Solution

The bug 22460556 is fixed in 11.5.2.2 release.

1.Please plan to download the 11.5.2.2 release from MOS (My Oracle Support).
2. If you have not done ACCEPT UPGRADE on your LAB system, then rollback to 10.5.x and then upgrade the Lab to 11.5.2.2
3.Please check if the issue with the Passes is fixed in the new release.
4. Once everything looks good, then plan the production environment to 11.5.2.2 release.

Workaround:

Set the Quota Profile type for those passes back to Subscriber from the drop down menu.

CMP GUI --> Policy Server--> Quota Profile --> Passes and then click on the passes configured .

Once you selected the pass that needs to be modified, click modify and change the field "Quota Profile Type"  from Pool to Subscriber, using drop down button.
