Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.0 and later
Tekelec

Symptoms

When adding S6a/S6d HSS Topology hiding configuration from NOAM GUI below error is generated

Main Menu: Diameter -> Configuration -> Topology Hiding -> S6a/S6d HSS Topology Hiding Configuration Sets -> [Insert]
[Error Code 19508] - Either Prefix or Suffix is required for generating Pseudo Hostnames

Error Code 19508

Cause

DSR supports two options for assigning HSS pseudo-host names to real HSS host names:

  • Automatic generation of the HSS pseudo-host names by the GUI.
  • Manual entry of the HSS pseudo-host names by the operator.

In this case Automatic Generation of the HSS pseudo-host-names was checked under Pseudo Hostname Generation

Active NOAM GUI -->Main Menu: Diameter -> Configuration -> Topology Hiding -> S6a/S6d HSS Topology Hiding Configuration Sets -> [Insert]

Auto Generate pseudo-hostnames

When the DSR auto-generates the pseudo-host names for one or more real HSS host names added to a HSS Topology Hiding Configuration Set, the following HSS Topology Hiding Configuration Set attributes will be used for creating the pseudo-host names:

  • Random number of Pseudo-Host Names per HSS
  • Maximum Number of Pseudo-Host Names per HSS
  • HSS Pseudo-Host Name Digit-field Length
  • HSS Pseudo-Host Name Prefix
  • HSS Pseudo-Host Name Suffix

The DSR shall support auto-generation of HSS pseudo-host names with one of the following 3 formats:

  • prefix.digits.suffix when both prefix and suffix attributes are configured,
  • prefix.digits when only prefix attribute is configured,
  • digits.suffix when only the suffix attribute is configured
Note: the digit-field is a required field that must always be configured. The configuration of either prefix or suffix fields, or, the configuration of both prefix and suffix fields is required.

This means that either prefix or suffix or both (prefix and suffix) are required field when using Auto Generate option

Solution

This error can be cleared by following any of the below 2 solutions:

  • When using Auto Generate Pseudo-hostnames automatically for Actual hostnames, either prefix or suffix or both prefix and suffix should be used.

Or

  • If prefix and suffix is not desired then Manual entry of pseudo-hostnames should be done by unchecking the Auto Generate checkbox under Pseudo Hostname Generation.
