Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

BUI Access problem via http://MaxRep3_host/ui/ and http://MaxRep3_host/support/

Only SSH and ILOM access are available.

Cause

MaxRep 3 Software got corrupted during a Software Upgrade.

Solution

We need to uninstall and reinstall the MaxRep 3 software.

These steps apply for a new MaxRep 3 installation and NO protection plans exist. If any protection plans did exist before this issue started please open a Service Request, otherwise follow all the steps below in order:

1. Log into the MaxRep 3 engine console using the following credentials
username: root
password: inScott!

2. cd to folder /root/Oracle-MaxRep_ReplicationEngine/ by executing this command:
# cd /root/Oracle-MaxRep_ReplicationEngine/

3. Once in this folder location type ls:
# ls

You should see a file called uninstall.sh

4. At the command prompt type:
# ./uninstall.sh

At the prompt you will see a message that states:
Would you like to uninstall the Replication Engine ? (Y|N) default (N)?y

Make sure to type y then hit the Enter Key

Wait for the uninstall to complete and make sure there are no failure messages. If uninstall failed with Error message "Script failed with error" please check MOS Document:

Document 2148274.1 MaxRep: Failed Software upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 with a Script failed with error message

If you see any other failure messages STOP and let us know, otherwise continue to Step 5.

5. Once the command prompt is available reboot the host by typing the following command:
# reboot

Wait for the MaxRep host to complete reboot.

6. Once the MaxRep host is back up log back in:
username: root
password: inScott!

7. cd to folder /root/Oracle-MaxRep_ReplicationEngine/ by executing command:
# cd /root/Oracle-MaxRep_ReplicationEngine/

8. Once in this folder location type ls:
# ls

You should see a file called install.sh

9. At the command prompt type:
# ./install.sh

Wait for the install to complete and make sure there are no failure messages. If you see any failure messages STOP and inform Oracle Support by opening a Service Request, otherwise continue to Step 10.

10. Once the command prompt is available reboot the host by typing the following command:
# reboot

At this point once the MaxRep host boot is complete, verify access to http://10.0.0.11/support and http://10.0.0.11/ui

Once logged into http://10.0.0.11/ui in the top left corner check what version of MaxRep is installed. Then continue with the upgrades, if the installed version is shown to be 3.0.1 then upgrade to 3.0.2, then to 3.0.3, and then to 3.0.4. If the installed version is 3.0.2 then upgrade to 3.0.3 then to 3.0.4. Reboot the engine if required.

Configure the network settings once the engine is up to date.
