Fujitsu M10-1 - Version All Versions and later
Fujitsu M10-4 - Version All Versions and later
Fujitsu M10-4S - Version All Versions and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

Device property, pcie-ari-supported, is not properly created.  This can cause malfunction of a PCIe card. (Device path is not identified as expected.)  Up until now, Fujitsu found the Raptor GFX550e from EIZO Rugged Solutions (formerly Tech Source) is affected.  The Raptor GFX550e is sold as SP0X7GR1F in the Fujitsu domestic Japan market only.

As a result, GUI on Solaris11 won’t start.

Cause

This problem is caused by XSCF firmware bug introduced in XCP2280.
When all following conditions are met, this problem will occur:

  1. XCP is 2280 or later, and
  2. The system is started with factory-default as domain configuration.

Solution

This issue will be fixed in the next XCP release.
Please apply the fix once it has been released.

WORKAROUNDS:

  1. Use XCP2271, or earlier.  You may need to re-install device driver (and related software, which is configured with wrong device path), because settings were configured with wrong device path.  (If device driver and the PCI card(s) were installed with XCP earlier than 2320, then XCP was updated to 2320 or later, you may not have to re-install device driver).
  2. Save a new domain configuration (do not use factory-default). Then you may need to re-install the device driver (and related software), because settings were configured with wrong device path. (If device driver and the PCI card(s) were installed with XCP earlier than 2320, then XCP was updated to 2320 or later, you may not have to re-install device driver)
    Procedure is as follows:
    1. Boot the system.
    2. Save current configuration (You do not have to modify the configuration.) with your preferred name
      Ex: # /usr/sbin/ldm add-spconfig <your-preferred-name>
    3. Shutdown and then boot the system. (Then, you may need to re-install device driver and related software)
  3. If your affected PCIe card is GFX550e, for example, and Driver Software 1.4 or later, workaround can be done by modifying /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows:
    <BEFORE>
    # First card start
    [some lines omitted]
    BusID “PCI:8:0:0”
    [some lines omitted]
    # First card end
    <AFTER MODIFICATION>
    # First card start
    [some lines omitted]
    # BusID “PCI:8:0:0”
    [some lines omitted]
    # First card end
    After modification of xorg.conf file, you need to restart GDM service.
    Example:
    # /usr/sbin/svcadm restart gdm.
