Symptoms

X5 Virtualized Rack discovery in 13c Cloud Control

The Rack Components seem to have been discovered as they are showing in the All Targets list and on the top "Overview" bar of the Exadata Schematic page.

However only the three cell servers and Cisco switch are showing in the Schematic Diagram:

Cause

There was a transient error during discovery for the placement of the Rack components.

Solution

If the components are missing, but otherwise showing correctly as managed targets, you can place the components in the correct rack location as follows:

1. Go to the DB Machine home page - Targets > Exadata > Click on the desired Rack link.

2. On the schematic diagram, click the Show "Empty Slot" checkbox:

Please note that this screenshot was taken from a different Exadata Rack than the one is the problem statement, so the component locations are different.

3. Now that you see a lot of empty slots on the diagram, do a right click on any of the empty slots. This will bring up a popup "Place Target" where you can put the targets in the rack at the correct position:
