Symptoms

Updating of the Fujitsu M10 PCI Expansion Unit firmware may fail with the following message:

XSCF> ioxadm -c update PCIBOX#8002 -s 1200
Firmware update is started. (version=1200)
Operation was not successful.

There is also a secondary issue where a M10 PCI Expansion Unit installed in PCI-slot#9 will take more than 2 hours until ioxadm completes with the above error.

Cause

This issue is caused by a bug in XCP2250.

This problem may happen when all the following conditions are met:

SPARC M10-4, and
XCP version is 2250 or later, and
The system has a M10 PCI Expansion Unit installed to PCI-slot#9, and
A firmware update for any installed M10 PCI Expansion Unit is performed.

Solution

This problem will be fixed in the next XCP release. Please apply the fix once it has been released.
