Information in this document applies to any platform.

Oracle replaced drive in bay48, acsls drive 0,1,1,0
ran command on acsls : config drives 0,1,1
saw change in serial number on acsls, 2016-05-20 13:19:56 57397 drive 0, 1, 1, 0 serial number changed.
on media server med01np ran command tpautoconf -report_disc
saw missing drive ACS-LTO5-BAY.48-0.1.1.0 path /dev/rmt/13cbn
ran command tpautoconf -replace_drive ACS-LTO5-BAY.48-0.1.1.0 -path /dev/rmt/13cbn
re-ran command tpautoconf -report_disc, no issues.
ran command tpautoconf -a
netbackup stop
bpps -x - all clear
netbackup start

Drive shows as available in NetBackup

Start process to that drive - tape loads in drive, acsls shows tape in drive, NetBackup never shows tape in drive and job details never shows tape loaded.

Symptoms

Over the last few days, on several different media, load failures on drive 1,2,-2,1,1. log errors like:

Changes

Cause

 Netbackup Issue

Solution

Worked with NetBackup support,
The unobtrusive tpautoconf -replace_drive did not "stick" and the drive would show after a while when I ran the tpautoconf -report_disc.

Ran tpautoconf -a and recycled netbackup and eventually the drive stayed up.
