Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Alarm 32312 is raised when attempting to create certain Measurement Reports.  Often those Reports do not complete and the Task fails.

Cause

The /var/ partition includes the workspace used for compiling these Measurement reports from the raw data when servicing the Measurement request. If the granularity and duration of the request is of sufficient size, the free space in the /var/ filesystem--which is only ~1GB to begin with--can become nearly or fully consumed.

Solution

The issue appears very rarely. The condition is observed only on large systems when the requested Measurement Report contains highly granular content and long durations.

For example: Measurement Report for Connection Performance, 5-minute intervals, full week duration.  That would produce 12 [5-min intervals] x 24 [hours] x 7 [days] =2016 peg values for each Connection.  On a large system with many hundreds of active connections, this can become a large result particularly as the file is being compiled.

A change in the DSR is being considered for a more complete resolution. In the meantime, we advise breaking the request into smaller chunks, such as individual 1-day durations, less frequent intervals, or fewer hours.
