In Exalogic X5-2 racks running Solaris Physical release 2.0.6.2.0 & above, when running Exachk we notice that RAID battery level check fails with on Compute Nodes as shown below.

FAIL => RAID battery level is low.

DATA FROM ELSOLARISCN01 - RAID BATTERY LEVEL

Exit Code: 0x01
/opt/MegaRAID/MegaCli command failed.

Cause

This issue is caused due to following defect.

Bug 20745068 - CHECKHWNFWPROFILE FAILS POST COMPUTE NODE UPGRADE TO APR15 PSU ON X5-2

X5-2 introduces a new brand HBA card, the old MegaCli on Solaris is not applicable for it, instead stocli has to be used. This issue doesn't exist on Exalogic Linux Physical or Virtual racks as MegaCli64 on them works for this new HBA card.

Solution

This issue is fixed in July 2016 PSU. Please apply the PSU to solve the issue.

If customer can't install the PSU immediately, we may manually download the package and send to customer:

For Exalogic X5-2 racks in order to check the RAID battery levels download the "stocli" from the below link:

http://www.avagotech.com/support/oem/oracle/12gb/sas-12gbs-pcie-raid-hba-internal

Once "stocli" installed, run the following command to check the status of the RAID HBA battery:

# /opt/MegaRAID/CLI/storcli /c0/cv show all
