CAP = Cartridge Access Port

Symptoms

The operator cannot open the CAP. Seen in ACSLS as Online / Automatic.

Changes

 None

Cause

CAP is not responding to commands from the operator panel in SL8500 to open.

Solution

VARY CAP Off /On

Using the ACSLS cmd_proc :-

1. Issue the command 'query CAP' to confirm the CAP is Online and Automatic.

"q cap all" (State = Online, Mode = Manual, Status = Available)


2. If the CAP is online and automatic issue the command :-

"vary <Cap-id> offline"

3. After a few seconds check if CAP is offline using the command query CAP again.

4. Vary the cap back online :-

"vary <Cap-id> online"

5. Try to open the CAP.
