Symptoms

The attempt to log into the Service Processor (SP) via both, Web Browser UI or Command Line Interface, fails with the error: Too many users are logged in

Cause

If some user sessions with the affected SP are not correctly terminated, then the maximum allowed number of users that are logged into the SP at the same time will be reached.
This will cause the mentioned warning and inability to log into the SP.

Solution

In order to resolve the problem:

1. properly shut down the operating system. If there are guest domains installed, first, shut down the guest domains and then the control domain.

2. detach the power cables from the power supplies for 1 minute and attach them back

3. Now you should be able to log into the SP again. Poweron the host and boot the operating system. Start then the guest domains, if applicable.

If you have lost the password to the SP, please follow the steps outlined in the following document, after performing step 2:
How to recover from lost ILOM 3.0 password on T3/T4/T5, T5x20, T5x40 Servers (Doc ID 1609147.1)
