Symptoms

In Mult-Drive Virtual Operator Panel (MDVOP) 7 drives show as unavailable. The backup application couldn't use these drives.

Drive needs keys to read data from tape and was not able to get them within the time allotted.

Cause

Found that the affected seven tape drives could not be reached via their IPs, no ping was possible but the other drives could be pinged.

Solution

A check of the network configuration solved the issue.
