Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to perform any of the log snapshot commands via CLI (command line interface), the command just hangs. Another symptom is that no log snapshot is collected with an associated ASR or call home event.

Changes

SDP2 has been recently installed or upgraded.

Cause

An excessive amount of alerts coming from the library can cause the site server to issue multiple log collection request to the library causing the log snapshot application to hang internally within the library.

Solution

Using root login L2 Engineer can delete the hwmgr.fifo file from the tmp directory.. This will resolve the issue... You must contact L2 backline support to webex or shared shell into the library to execute this file removal.
