Applies to:

Acme Packet 4500 - Version S-Cx6.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PHY TCM0 & PHY TCM1 High Temperature on SBC pair. The temperature of TCM 0 and TCM 1 are showing more than 80.00°C :-

PHY TCM0 +83.500 C (high = +80.000 C)
PHY TCM1 +81.500 C (high = +80.000 C)

Changes

Transcoder installation and software upgrade to S-Cx7.2.0

Cause

Known issue while upgrading the software to scx7.2.0

Solution

As per the Acme 4500 Installation guide and unpublished bug IDs 20388311 and 20568713 this is a known issue, where if SBC 4500 is upgraded to S-Cx720 then the transcoder will need Fan Module installation to bring down the temperature.

There are two fan modules available 110-0100-60 - 4-Fan Fan Module and 110-0109-60-01 - High Speed 4-Fan Fan Module.

Since customer's system has NIU part number 002-0619-58 as per the support info provided, they need to use the High Speed fan module with the part number 110-0109-60-01.

Additional Information :-

We can not check the part number of the fan module from the software by running any command. You may need to remove the bezel and fan filter on 4500. There should be a label that would have the 110-0100-60-X number on it.

Please find below the link for the fan module installation procedures :-

Goal

To bring down the temperature of TCM 0 and TCM 1
