Applies to:Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-BA - Version All Versions and laterSun ZFS Storage 7120 - Version All Versions and later Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-4 - Version All Versions and later Veritas NetBackup (NBU) Software - Version 7.0 and later Sun ZFS Storage 7420 - Version All Versions and later Linux x86-64 SymptomsWhen using the Veritas NetBackup software with the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Plug-in for NetBackup OpenStorage v1.0 to back up data to a ZFS Storage Appliance, performance can be affected if a very large number of image files (>1,000) already exist on a Storage Unit.
CauseA bug in the plug-in was causing the plug-in to iterate over all the image files on each Storage Unit. When the number of image files increased to a very large amount (>1,000), performance degradation was noticeable.
SolutionNOTE: This solution is out of date. There is an updated patch to v1.0 labeled v1.0.3 that contains more performances fixes. See more information here: https://mosemp.us.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=2183749.1 There is also a new version of the plug-in labeled v1.1, which supports the Fibre Channel protocol. It can be found on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/sun-unified-storage/downloads/zfssa-plugins-1489830.html).
Please download the attached version of the plug-in labeled v1.0.2 for the appropriate platform. Extract the zip file and run the 'installOST.sh' script on each Media Server to install the updated plug-in.
NOTE: This updated version is only currently supported on Oracle Linux, RHEL, and SUSE Linux Media Servers. For other platforms, please contact Oracle Support. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
