Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.0.0 and later
Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 Hardware - Version X2 to X2 [Release X2]
Linux x86-64
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Virtual Server x86-64

Symptoms

Following the upgrade of compute node ILOM on Exalogic X2-2 racks, it is observed that the network settings for the ILOM are lost. The following settings are observed upon logging in to the ILOM and viewing the network settings:

-> show /SP/network
/SP/network
Targets:
interconnect
ipv6
test
Properties:
commitpending = (Cannot show property)
dhcp_clientid = none
dhcp_server_ip = (none)
ipaddress = (none)
ipdiscovery = (none)
ipgateway = (none)
ipnetmask = (none)
macaddress = 00:10:E0:0E:39:4B
managementport = NET0
outofbandmacaddress = 00:10:E0:0E:39:4A
pendingipaddress = (none)
pendingipdiscovery = (none)
pendingipgateway = (none)
pendingipnetmask = (none)
pendingmanagementport = NET0
sidebandmacaddress = 00:10:E0:0E:39:4B
state = ipv6-only
Commands:
cd
set
show

However, the ILOM continues to be accessible over its configured IP address. This is a display-only issue. Racks other than X2-2 are not affected.

Cause

This issue is tracked through the following bug:

BUG 22766793 - Updating Exalogic X2-2 from 2.0.x.x.x to 2.0.6.2.x loses ILOM Network settings

The bug causes the network info for eth0 (aka NETMGMT) to be displayed rather than the "current configured management port" (which is SIDEBAND on Exalogic).

Solution

This is a display-only issue, and may be ignored, since the ILOM continues to be accessible over its configured IP address. A fix is currently in progress.
