Symptoms

Snap Management Utility is not able to take backup.

When the backup launched, SMU reports the following error:

Task Failed. Application Oracle Database nashead does not use Sun ZFS storage.

Changes

No changes, new installation.

Cause

Fibre Channel client connectivity is not supported with SMU.

Solution

With SMU, the only supported configurations are NFS or ASM over iSCSI LUNs:

Alternatively, the customer can use Oracle Secure Backup with FC.
