Symptoms

The "cfgadm -x locator=on" command on specific internal disk returns with message "cfgadm: Configuration operation not supported".

Example:

cfgadm: Configuration operation not supported
root@xs01-ctl # cfgadm -x locator=on c0::dsk/c0t5000039668221DC2d0
cfgadm: Configuration operation not supported
root@xs01-ctl # cfgadm -x locator=on c0::dsk/c0t500003966822226Ad0
cfgadm: Configuration operation not supported
root@xs01-ctl # cfgadm -x locator=on c0::dsk/c0t50000396681B9C92d0
cfgadm: Configuration operation not supported

Cause

The cfgadm -x option use the cfgadm SCSI plugin: "-x locator[={on|off}]". This allows a user to turn on or turn off the locator indication, regardless of the underlying implementation.
Reason the -x locator option did not work was because of a missing SCSI plugins for the cfgadm implementation.

Solution

Install SunOS 5.10: cfgadm patch 150542 (current -01): SunOS 5.10: cfgadm patch
