Whenever the Solaris Fallback miniroot Image is corrupted or missing the following message will be reported by FMA.

Cause

The SPARC T7 Server has a Solaris Fallback miniroot Image, this miniroot is not part of the Solaris OS or System Firmware image.

The Solaris Fallback miniroot image must be updated whenever a new version of Oracle Solaris is installed on the server. It will also need to be reloaded if the SPM(service processor module) is replaced. The fallback miniroot image should match the Oracle Solaris version and SRU.

STEP 1] Download the Solaris Fallback Image

The Oracle Solaris Fallback Image may be downloaded from My Oracle Support.[ https://support.oracle.com]
Fallback images is typically named "<Solaris Version>-fallback_boot-sparc.pkg".

TIP: To locate fallback firmware in MOS

Patches & Updates -> Product or Family (Advanced) and Platform -> Enter SPARC T7-x in product-> Select SPARC T7-X fallback Boot 11.x -> Hit Search

STEP 2] Install the Solaris Fallback Image

Loading the Oracle Solaris fallback image takes about three minutes and maybe be installed through ILOM webgui or through ILOM CLI.

-> load -source http://<ip_address_or_hostname>/sol-11_2_10_5_0-fallback_boot-sparc.pkg /SP/firmware/host/miniroot

Are you sure you want to load the specified file (y/n)? y
This installs a new copy of miniroot. Do you want to continue (y/n)? y

Firmware update is complete.
