VOP = Virtual Op Panel

Symptoms

When upgrading drives using VOP the file transfer does not complete but there is no error reported. The code load progress bar never goes away and the new code does not get loaded. It appears to the user that the code load never completes. (which is indeed the case)

Cause

 Having McAfee enabled on your laptop will cause this to occur.  This is more common with newer laptops being used to upgrade firmware on drives using VOP.

Solution

You must disable McAfee on your laptop in order to perform/complete the drive firmware upgrades using VOP. Also please be advised that McAfee may automatically re-enable itself after about fifteen minutes so you may have to disable it multiple times depending on how many tape drives are being upgraded.

Note: You would get this issue when trying to use VOP to upgrade the firmware on the Belisarius and Dione encryption cards on those drives.

Disable McAfee means "turn off the firewall." This is typically done using the McAfee icon in the system tray.
VOP higher than 2.0 does typically work. Loading drive code to T10000A/B/C/D drives with the 2.3.1 version has been tested.
