SymptomsWhile using Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) 6.10.2 to upgrade the firmware on a drive model H7230AS60SUN3.0T from A600 to A6C0, CAM returns the following error:
Note: This problem has no functional impact to the drive and array.
CauseEvery drive firmware file bundled with CAM has a header including an "upgrade path". The "upgrade path" enables CAM to determine if the firmware currently installed on the drive can be upgraded to the target level.
Note: This issue only applies to the Sun Storage 2500-M2 Arrays with the drive model H7230AS60SUN3.0T running the firmware A600 and with CAM 6.10.2.
SolutionIf you have CAM 6.9 on Windows or Linux, the solution is to apply the following corresponding patch:
The solution for CAM 6.10.2 and Solaris SPARC or x86 is available with the patch 147663-01. Refer to <Document 1296274.1> How to Download Common Array Manager (CAM) Software and Patches. If the customer cannot apply the above solution for Solaris SPARC or x86, because of limitations with its production and/or environment, you can proceed with the following workaround: For CAM 6.9 on Solaris or for CAM 6.10, please proceed with the following steps to workaround this issue:
