Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer reported a fan failure and server shutdown due to temperature threshold exceed.

Cause

The fans on the front blower have failed and airflow inisde the server is limited causing the cpu to overheat above the high warning threshold causing an outage.
 
SC Alert: ENCLOSURE_FAN @ F2.RS has FAILED.

SC Alert: ENCLOSURE_FAN @ F2.RS has FAILED.

SC Alert: ENCLOSURE_FAN @ F2.RS has FAILED.

SC Alert: ENCLOSURE_FAN @ F3.RS has FAILED.

SC Alert: TEMP_SENSOR @ MB.P1.T_CORE has exceeded high warning threshold.

SC Alert: SC initiating soft host system shutdown due to fault at MB.P1.T_CORE.

SC Alert: SC Request to Power Off Host.

SC Alert: TEMP_SENSOR @ MB.P1.T_CORE has exceeded high soft shutdown threshold.

SC Alert: TEMP_SENSOR @ MB.P0.T_CORE has exceeded high warning threshold.

SC Alert: CRITICAL ALARM is set

SC Alert: Host system has shut down.

SC Alert: CRITICAL ALARM is set
 

Solution

To resolve this issue the front blower assembly needs to be replaced.
