Symptoms

ASR Problem description shows for the 3337/3357
The Oracle Proactive Support Center has reported that serial number 516000200100 has exceeded the daily error threshold for event 3337/3357 on the following volsers.
Exceeding this threshold may indicate a failing cartridge or drive in the SL8500/Sl300 library. Please follow the RDC process to diagnose whether this is a drive failure or a suspected cartridge and dispatch to the field if necessary.

In the log snapshot Support Actions Tab (SA-439) - Please investigate these drives that have failed with multiple pieces of media has been triggered.

In the drive conditions tab in the log snapshot you're likely to see the following ( an example below ).. Notice that the drive has failed with multiple pieces of media.

Cause

Possibly a defective tape drive. The drive event logs should be collected and analyzed for true Root Cause of the failure.

Solution
