Symptoms

On the Operating System which runs on the affected server, the "ilomconfig-interconnect" service is in maintenance state:

#svcs ilomconfig-interconnect
STATE          STIME    FMRI
maintenance    10:37:21 svc:/network/ilomconfig-interconnect:default

In the log file that corresponds to this service, you will see entries similar to the following ones:

#cat /var/svc/log/network-ilomconfig-interconnect:default.log
[...]
[ Jan 29 14:31:37 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/svc-ilomconfig-interconnect start") ]
Terminated
[ Jan 29 15:03:49 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/svc-ilomconfig-interconnect start") ]
Set host ipaddress to 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
ERROR: ILOM not reachable over internal LAN
[...]

Cause

The affected server's Service Processor (SP) appears to be hung or its firmware is corrupted.

Solution

1. try to log into the SP via the network management port or via the serial port.

If this works, go to step 2.

If this fails, power cycle the server (click here for a detailed How To) by properly shutting down the operating system, then remove the power cords from the power supplies for one minute.
Attach the power cords and try again to log into the SP via net network or serial management ports. If you manage to log into the SP, go to Step 3.
If this still fails, please open a Service Request in the My Oracle Support Portal.
If logging to the SP fails even after power cycle, the SR Owner should send a replacement SP (CRU) to the customer, recommending to replace the SP and to re-flash the System Firmware.
2. reset the SP and go to Step 3:
    -> reset /SP

3. on the affected host Operating System (this applies to both, Solaris 10 and Solaris 11), restart the service:
    #svcs restart ilomconfig-interconnect

   This should resolve the problem.

If the service still does not start, please upgrade the system firmware, best via the SP's browser user interface.
Please click here to find the patch containing the system firmware for your specific server.

Then, try again to start the ilomconfig-interconnect service.

If this still fails, please open a Service Request in the My Oracle Support Portal and generate the output of the Solaris Explorer with the following option:
       explorer -w default,smfextended
Attach the output file to the Service Request.
If after power cycle and firmware re-flash, the mentioned service still won't start, the SR Owner should collaborate with the corresponding Solaris Team to find the root cause and solution action plan.
Use for the collaboration SR:
Product: Solaris SPARC Operating System
Component: Administration
Sub Component: SMF services

The Solaris Service ilomconfig-interconnect is a feature of the Oracle Hardware Management Pack that provides an interface to the host,
which allows the host to communicate with Oracle ILOM. Further information regarding the Hardware Management Pack can be found here:
