Applies to:

Sun Ray Software - Version SRS 5.3 to SRS 5.4.5 [Release 5.0]
Sun Ray Hardware - Version SROS 11.0 to SROS 11.1.7 [Release 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Sun Ray Software provides optional functionality to modify a Sun Ray Client's local configuration through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) tool. Pressing one of the following key combinations on a Sun Ray Client will bring up the GUI:

        Stop-S or Ctrl-Pause-S

        Stop-M or Ctrl-Pause-M

Users find though that GUI does not appear.

Changes

Upgraded Sun Ray Sun Ray Operating System (SROS) to a newer release.

Cause

Running the

# /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utfwsync'

command after installing SROS/Firmware.  This command is ONLY  to be used for non GUI firmware. When run, it disables GUI firmware by removing:

enablegui=force

from /tftpboot/SunRayPx.parms files.

Solution

To allow the GUI to be started, carry out the following commands:

1. Edit the

/tftpboot/SunRayPx.parms

files on the Sun Ray server.

WHERE x is a number between 1 and 10

2. Append:

enablegui=force

to each .parms file.

3.  As root, run the command:

# /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utfwsync -d
