Symptoms

ProTrace Session is not capturing all the required traffic from PMF

Cause

Filtering in Traffic Classification (TC) is not allowing all traffic into session data and is blocking the visibility of required traffic.

Solution

This issue can usually be caused by the Traffic Classification (TC) and any filtering applied.

First place to check, is to confirm if any filter is being used in the associated TC and exactly what it is it filtering on and its configuration in "PDU Filters".

The best method to prove this issue is to make sure there is no filtering being used in the TC.

Please note that capturing data from within CCM and from within TC will only capture the data as based on the TC and its filtering, so in effect, this is still the same data going into the session.

An actual 'raw' capture from on the PMF itself will prove what traffic is really coming into the PMF, as part of verifying the issue. The 'raw' capture will capture all traffic vs. only filtered traffic.

It is also possible to disable "Filters" in the Traffic Classification by setting to "No Filter" and then capture within the TC in CCM, which will be same test as capturing on the PMF itself.

Removing the filtering all together is the solution to the issue, but it may also be the case to review and adjust any filtering as required to meet specific requirements.
