Symptoms

Internal RPool Disk Drives May Experience Unrecoverable Read Errors

Cause

Errors follow a burst of I/O activity after mostly idle usage

Solution

With VSM6 and VLE, the RPool drives are constantly logging and rarely, if ever idle, so this problem has never been seen and not expected.

RPool drives do not store customer data and are used for internal message logging.

Should this problem ever occur, or any similar RPool drive error occur, the drive will fail and be reported as bad to be replaced.

For VSM6, the firmware solution is implemented with the firmware upgrade associated with microcode 7.0.0.10.000a
