Symptoms

 VSM5 with VCF4 will not connect to an IBM Z13 processor with Ficon express 16gb Channels

NOTE: The following actions are to be performed by a VSM Service Engineer 

Internal VSM files may indicate the following symptoms.

Cause

 The Ficon interface will not perform the fiber channel log in process

Solution

Perform a GFR NO-replace of the affected VCF card.

When the GFR completes, ensure the VCF port links up with the channel.

Review the Table A-8 labeled VCF Card Link Status LED Blink-Pattern Descriptions for the meaning of the VCF card LEDs, in the section of the current VSM5 Installation and Maintenance Guide E21135-03.

A successful FLOGI log in be indicated as shown below:
