Symptoms
Issues with drives reservations. The drives are reserved but the mount and dismounts are not done.
Cartridges are not move via elevator due to elevator reservation conflicts.
Cause
Internal device request timed out on move from source, sourceAddress=(UNKNOWN)1,3,30,2,2 destinationAddress=(Drive_Bay19)1,3,-1,1,4
This appears to be very much a known issue called "reservation conflict"
The current code version installed, 6.xx is known to be exposed to this issue.
This old code version and should be upgraded asap to 8.36 in order to address this issue.
In the log I can see that multiple moves from either elevator or cell going across rails are not satisfied and because elevator (1.3.30.2.x) is not responding due to reservation conflicts.
Sometimes a HBZ reset (CAP reboot) will resolve this issue, but for sure the SL8500 restart does it.
Solution
SL8500 - Firmware / Microcode Level Recommendations (Doc ID 1447566.1)
Firmware upgrade in order to address known reservation conflict issue with current installed firmware level (6.07)
Workaround:
If problem re-occurs being on code level FRS_6.xx than recommend to,
1. First reboot the CAP in order to reset the HBZ module that is controlling the elevator.
2. If step 1 diid not help then reset the SL8500 EM. This can be done via HBC card reset switch,
3. Lastly do a complete SL8500 reset/reboot.
Usually the CAP reboot will do the trick.
Caution: If a dual CAP is installed than you need to make sure to reboot the correct CAP.
Right CAP is for right elevator.
Left CAP is for left elevator.
If only one CAP is installed than elevators are controlled just by one HBZ module!
