Sun StorageTek L1400 Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

L1400 loss of connectivity to host.

L1400 when connected through IFCM card or SN3300/3400, router has lost router connectivity or additional cell licenses.

Changes

A powering up or power loss to the library  IFCM/SN3300/3400 unit can cause the router config to be lost under certain conditions.

Cause

A known cause for this is the router unit ( IFCM or SN3300/3400 ) is running router microcode below 5.8.xx

IE 5.6.4f or below for example.

Solution

Upgrading the the unit to minimum of 5.8.0c has the known fix in it .... BUT ... 5.8.25 is the best level to load and run.

It was also the last release of code for these routers on a L1400... and is well tested code. and has in most known cases restored the router back to operation - and the customer config. and licenses.

Replacing the router has seldom been necessary.
