Refer to http://support.oracle.com/msg/SMF-8000-YX for more information. Response : The service has been placed into the maintenance state. Impact : svc:/network/sendmail-client:default is unavailable. CauseThe 'sendmail' service can be effected by DNS resolution failure.
SolutionCheck the system logs for indication of DNS resolution issues : e.g.: Jan 01 00:00:01 ZShostname sendmail[9163]: [ID 702911 mail.warning] gethostbyaddr(10.10.10.10) failed: 1
Jan 01 00:00:01 ZShostname sendmail[9163]: [ID 702911 mail.notice] alias database /var/ak/etc/mail/aliases rebuilt by root Check resolution of the DNS server : ZShostname:> configuration services dns get servers servers = 10.10.10.10 ZShostname:> nslookup 10.10.10.10 10.10.10.10 DNSserver.domain :> nslookup ZShostname 10.10.10.20 ZShostname
If DNS resolution fails, check your configuration, network connectivity or DNS server availability. If DNS resolves but has failed in the past, mark the service problem as repaired.
