Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2055531.1 : SL150 - Library Not Operational After Replacing the Bridge Drive
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-11316403351> Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsAfter replacing a drive acting as bridge drive with the library being online, one or all the below symptoms could be reported:
2. Robot might get stuck or a tape might get stuck in the robot hand preventing the library to initialize. 3. Tape might get stuck in the mailslot. ChangesReplacing the bridge drive while the library is online. CauseThe bridging tape drive is located in the top drive slot of the base module. The robot control is a SCSI Medium Changer device that appears as LUN 1 on a bridging tape drive. If the library is partitioned, there must be two tape drives in the base module, and each tape drive provides the robot control for its assigned partition. SolutionIf the failed drive is the bridge drive then the SL150 library must be taken offline to the host as replacing the tape drive will cause the host to lose connectivity to the SL150 library. If the tape drive is not a bridging drive then it can be hot swapped. The solution is to bring the library offline, unplug the drive, plug the drive back and bring back the library online. Note: The SL150 can now have up to 8 partitions. You are required to have a bridge drive for each partition.
