Symptoms

Upgrade E5-MS 45.0.0, 45.0.1, 46.0.0, 46.0.1 to 46.2.0 on standalone or pair with failover
Problem: Upgrade of primary server failed after replacement of rpm.
Impact: Upgrade fails

Cause

Error messages point to issue with JAVA_HOME variable and DB access
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.8gSDNs: line 180: /bin/java: No such file or directory
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
 
DB access issue is caused by problem with JAVA_HOME variable. Upgrade script seems to use Java application for initializing new DB.

Install a separate copy of Java to the system

Set JAVA_HOME variable via /etc/profile.d script
