Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
7000 Appliance OS (Fishworks)

Symptoms

On a ZS3-2 cluster when attempting to setup clustering there is one or more ports showing timeout status.

Cause

One or more cluster physical ports are defective.

Solution

If during the clustering setup with ZS3-2 heads there are problems with the cluster port status showing timeout - and the cabling has been verified as OK (or swapped out to verify that it is not a cable causing the port timeout issue) - then the physical port itself must be suspect.

In order to change out the cluster port on a ZS3-2, the motherboard itself must be changed.

It has been found through experience that it is usually the motherboard that shows all ports as OK to be the one that needs to be changed not the one that shows the port problem.

In any case, if one motherboard has been changed out and the problem has not been resolved then most likely the port on the other motherboard is bad - so that one should be changed out.
