Symptoms

'admin' password got lost and a a password reset to default has been performed using following procedure :

1) Run the /opt/AcmePacket/NNC73M4/bin/bin/shutdownnnc.sh

2) cd /opt/AcmePacket/db/replicated/data
mv UserSecurity.dbxml UserSecurity.dbxml.old

3) restart NNC:
/opt/AcmePacket/NNC73M4/bin/bin/startnnc.sh
(a new UserSecurity.dbxml is generated)

This procedure brought back admin password (of admin and LIadmin) to default. But with this he lost all his configuration as well. If he tries now to add a device or Device Group, he gets error "Failed to add device group, Device Group already exists".

Cause

In lab the behavior could be reproduced with similar procedure and it was noted that bringing back password to default also brings back the admin and LIadmin "user group privilege" to default as : None.

Solution

 1) Access the NNC webpage and under "Security Manager" > "Groups" you will see Administrator "Application Management" right reflects partial.

2) Double click on Administrator bar and wait for screen to refresh. Under "Device Group Instances" tab you will see your device group names and privileges set to 'none' , click on none dropdown and set it to full.

privilege set to full

3) Click "Apply" on bottom of the page.

4) Logout and re-login. After that you should be able to see your devices.

Repeat the same procedure for your LIAdministrator as well.
